DAVID BERNABO + ASSEMBLY HAPPENER-MAGICKER BUY
Collaborating with 25 musicians and artist Owl Kahol, Bernabo pieced together Happener-Magicker over a two year period, creating a wild mix of pop, jazz, and modern classical. The album was pressed on white and black vinyl and released on Sort Of Records. Notable contributions come from Julie Sokolow on the strange duet, "Out There" and a triple threat of drummers Will Dyar, Owl Barns, and Clarence Grant. The artwork conveys a fantastical interpretation of a Provo theme - turning police officers into white-uniformed social workers. The release show was streamed live by Incredibly Thin and a website was created by Lin Clark to stream the record and provide a free download option.
"Happener-Magicker is a tasteful hodgepodge of jazzy, proggy rock songs that twist and turn and sneak down different avenues, but never lose their way or wind up with heads in their asses." - Mike Pace, dustedmagazine.com
"To say this album has everything but the kitchen sink is an understatement; it’s a constantly shifting collage of kaleidoscopic musical vision, with fearless leader Bernabo leading the charge." - Patrick Bowman, Speed of Pittsburgh Sound

DAVID BERNABO ASSEMBLY
After eight albums with Vale and Year and an acoustic solo album, Assembly marked Bernabo's first extensive use of programmed rhythms, synthesizers, midi, and sound processing. That said, the world that these songs operate in is a very warm, organic environment. Much of songs exist in a parallel 1970s, where mellotrons, strings, and horns abound. Singer Kelly Jones adds beautiful harmonies to many of the tracks. Artist Keny Marshall allowed the recording and inclusion of a beautiful and beautiful sounding installation that was installed at Space Gallery.
Produced and Mastered by David Bernabo. Artwork by David Bernabo. Musicians include Josh Beyer, Will Dyar, Eric Graf, Kelly Jones, James Kunz, Keny Marshall, and Owl Kahol.

DAVID BERNABO MCQUEEN BEAR
As a precursor to the full-length album Assembly, McQueen Bear consisted of the single "McQueen Bear", an acoustic version of "Proto-Pac", a new tune "Make Peace", and three pieces that experiment with sound, voice, and composition.

The CDR was Bernabo's first release on Sort Of Records and featured 200 individual CD designs that sat in a handcut die-cut by label owner Raymond Morin. There are only a few left...
